The project, launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, will occupy the longest stretch of waterfront ever developed in Dubai with 2 million square feet of built up space.

US-based group MGM hospitality will operate the resort once complete, with Wasl Hospitality and Leisure developing the site. Aside from MGM Hotel, the resort will have MGM residences and a Bellagio hotel with 1,000 rooms and ten villas.

Entertainment at the new location will comprise of a 500,000 square foot theatre, restaurants, museums, a beach club and adventure zones.
"We are excited and honoured by the opportunity to introduce our brands in one of the world’s fastest-growing tourist destinations," said Bill Hornbuckle, president of MGM Resorts, in a statement. "This marks the first time we will offer multiple MGM luxury brands at a prime beachfront location."

This is not a brand that’s used to doing things on a small scale, so we can expect the Dubai resort to be in-keeping with MGM’s reputation for being big and bold.
