Talk about house music and its impossible not to talk about Japan’s Satoshi Tomiie. Since starting out in the late 80s he has been one of the scene’s most important and influential figures who has crafted endless dancefloor anthems as well as turning his hand to more pop inclined work, headline DJ sets around the world and all the while staying as relevant as anyone in the game. And it all started in Tokyo clubs during Satoshi’s youth, where he was forging himself a great reputation as a talented DJ in the early days of house.

A&R Productions, in association with Media One Hotel, announced their massive new lineup for Thursdays at Level 41. The bill includes DJ legends ruling the global dance scene for two decades, during the late 90s and early twenties before the materialization of social media artists and the birth of EDM. Names such as Nick Warren, Satoshi Tomiie, James Zabiela, Dave Seaman and John Graham aka Quivver.

Back 2 Basics targets the mature electronic music audience immersed in the dance genres of progressive house, minimal, and trance, admiring DJs who helped pave the way for the next step in dance music when DJs could construct brands around themselves without the help of any intermediaries.

Assenting beats, a fat bass line, a haunting melody and in some cases evocative vocals, are the ideal constituent to make audience engage and drive them to a state of total abstraction.“We all remember our first time in the dark listening to electronic music, we are trying to reincarnate that moment all over again." said Ram Nath II – Cultural Practitioner at A&R Productions & The senior curator of The Big Picture Dubai.

The concept relies on the music of labels golden era releasing milestone albums that went on to become classics such as Global Underground, Renaissance, Bedrock, amongst others with unquestioned significance as influential institutions in the recent history of dance music. Albums such as Nick Warren’s GU- Reykjavik, Satoshi Tomiie’s Nubreed or @Danny Tenagli’s GU-Athens are a few of the ageless classics.

The venue that will host Back 2 Basics also narrates a picturesque nostalgic sensation and carries audience back on a characteristic music journey. Level 41, Housed on the 41st floor of a modern Dubai Hotel with breathtaking views, yet boasts an organic and raw physical look that defines the essence of a night that takes you back in time. The venue interiors will be curated by curator and interior designer Anahita FP. ‘Back 2 Basics re-introduces quality music to our clubbing experience’ Andreas Konstantinidi – Music director at A&R Dubai & product manager at Daxar Music.

The event is scheduled to launch every Thursday starting 14 Jan 2016, from 10 pm to 3 am at LEVEL 41, Media One Hotel - Dubai Media City.
