Born in New York City, he moved to Atlanta as a teenager and got his start performing as "Black Boy the Kid".
He owed much of his style to influences like Nas, Tupac, and Notorious B.I.G., as well as T.I. and Jeezy.
After his first mixtape, 2013's Been About the Benjamins, he joined forces with fellow Atlanteans Migos. Along with the trio, Rich released a multi-year, three-part mixtape called Streets on Lock (a fourth collaboration, Still on Locks, was issued in 2015). His solo follow-up, Feels Good to Be Rich, arrived in 2014. The collection included multiple collaborations with the likes of Young Thug, Kirko Bangz, Soulja Boy, Riff Raff, French Montana, Kodak Black, and Yo Gotti.
In early 2017, Rich the Kid signed to Interscope Records, all the while continuing to release mixtapes, including the third in his Rich Forever series alongside Jay Critch and Famous Dex. A slew of singles arrived that year as well, including "Pissed Off" with Delivery Boys, "Cocaina" with Captain Cuts and Daniels, and "New Freezer" with Kendrick Lamar.
In 2018, he appeared on the Charlotte Devaney song "Avocado," later issuing his own single, "Plug Walk."

Joining the ever-growing league of super-clubs in the city, BASE has made its mark on the Dubai nightlife scene since its launch in September 2017.
The award-winning club has found a home in the Dubai Design District (d3), and has pulled out all the stops to make sure club-goers in Dubai city have something to look forward to every weekend.
With its state-of-the-art sound, light and pyrotechnic systems in place, BASE offers an unbeatable visual experience for its audiences, revolving around the elements of ice and fire, and set against the backdrop of electrifying tunes.
This Dubai night club has also launched its weekly LYFE series of performances that features dancers playing with fire, an enthralling light show and of course, some big names in the music industry.
The venue has already hosted class acts such as Afrojack and Rick Ross in the past, and continues to rope in international DJs and artists for clubbing nights that are quite unlike any other in Dubai city.
BASE Dubai has had a revamp with help from Spanish street artist Demsky who is
known for his funky, futuristic designs – a trend that can be prominently seen all over the Dubai night club.
