ARTIST PROFILE: LIL JON

ARTIST PROFILE: LIL JON

Atlanta rapper Lil’ Jon lays claim to popularising the term crunk and bringing it to international attention and when he released the “Get Crunk, Who U Wit” (1997) album alongside his group The East End Boyz the genre was given a face in the late 90’s. From there Lil’ Jon went on to collaborate with a number of high profile rap artists such as Ludacris, R Kelly and Usher. However, it was his collaboration with Ying Yang Twins “Get Low” in 2002 and the club smash “Yeah” with Usher and Ludacris in 2003 that really propelled Lil’ Jon and crunk in to the limelight.

Fast forward to 2014 and Lil’ Jon has worked with the game’s biggest players, but it was his track alongside DJ Snake “turn Down For What” that was to capture the ears of millions of people across the world. The track was featured in several high-profile motion pictures and has been adapted for a wide range of uses including Lil’ Jon’s hometown NFL team - Atlanta Falcons when they score a touchdown.

Lil’ Jon’s current chart hit in collaboration with Offset and fellow southern state artist 2Chainz “Alive” is currently blowing up the clubs and come this Thursday (April 12th) you can be sure that BASE Dubai will blow up in a similar fashion. Lil’ Jon is famous for his rowdy stage antics so make sure you are in prime position for one the hottest performances of the season.
