ARTIST PROFILE: THE GAME

ARTIST PROFILE: THE GAME

Since the East Coast / West Coast days of the late 90’s, few West Coast artists have done more to revive the mainstream appeal of hip hop than Compton rapper The Game. Since being signed to Dr. Dre’s Aftermath label in 2003 The Game has gone on to deliver 8 studio albums, of which a number have debuted at the number one spot in the Billboard charts. As well as many other best-selling albums, debut album The Documentary has been certified as double platinum and continues to be mentioned as one of the best rap albums of recent years.

The Game was also a member of East Coast group G-Unit with 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks, Tony Yayo and Young Buck but later left due to differences with 50 Cent and the rest of the group. The two have since resolved their ongoing and high profile feud. In his time, The Game has collaborated with a number of high profile musicians including Skrillex, Drake, Jason Derulo and Lil Wayne to name just a few of the rap stars’ cohorts.

The US rapper has also flirted with acting too where he provided the voice of B-Dub in the hugely popular video game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and Def Jam: Icon. The Game later made his movies debut in film Waist Deep (2006) where he plays character Big Meat. The Game has always been a force to be reckoned with on stage but when the rapper steps out on to the Drai’s stage on Friday, April 6th you better be ready to party.
