A tweet released by The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) on their official account today announced that a four-day holiday will be observed by the private sector, ministries and federal bodies in the country.
According to the tweet, Eid Al Adha will be celebrated from the 9th of Dhu Al Hijjah to the 12th of Dhu Al Hijjah – this should be from Saturday, August 10 to Tuesday, August 13.
Although the dates for Eid Al Adha are yet to be confirmed, depending on when the new moon will be sighted in Saudi Arabia. This is likely to happen on Thursday, August 1.
But if you were trying to get an idea of when to plan your vacation, this should give you an indication.

September 1 – Islamic New Year
There’s a possibility of having a long weekend towards the end of August/beginning of September, depending on the moon-sighting. The Islamic New Year is expected to fall on the 1st of September, so we might get a day off on the 31st of August (Saturday).
November 9 – Milad Al Nabi
A long weekend is expected to mark Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) birthday on the 9th of November, which falls on a Saturday. However, this is subject to moon-sighting. So, let’s wait and watch.
November 30 – Martyr’s Day
Also known as Commemoration Day, a public holiday has been declared on the 30th of November (Saturday), making it a long weekend for the UAE.
December 2 – UAE National Day
Falling on the 2nd of December, there is a possibility that the two-day holiday for UAE National Day might get clubbed together with the holiday for Martyr’s Day – that’s another long weekend to look forward to this year!
