SHUTDOWN EXTENDED: HOTELS, RESTAURANTS AND VENUES TO REMAIN CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE
Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) has confirmed an extension of the temporary closure of hotels, restaurants and venues, and suspension of events until further notice.

In a circular issued on April 14, the DTCM stated that the move is “in line with the Dubai government’s precautionary measures to ensure the health and safety of its residents and visitors.”

“Dubai Tourism will continuously evaluate the situation in coordination with the health authorities,” the authority further added.

The suspension, in effect since March 16, includes all entertainment activities, fitness and health centers, nightclubs, bars, restaurants along with other events.

UAE has so far taken a number of measures to curb the spread of the COVID-19 including the launch of a massive 24-hour sanitization program, and extensively testing residents in order to identify undiagnosed cases.

Dubai has recently set up drive-through centers which boast the capability of testing up to 500 or 600 people per day. Locations include Al Khawaneej, Port Rashid, Al Nasr Club, Dubai Festival City, Al Qusais, Silicon Oasis, Discovery Gardens, Al Warqa and International City.

If you, or anybody you know, is interested in booking a COVID-19 test, call up 8001717 or use the Seha mobile app.
