WAITING FOR A LONG WEEKEND TO PARTY HARD? HERES A LIST OF ALL THE HOLIDAYS YOU CAN LOOK FORWARD TO THIS YEAR!
So, we’ve been itching for a long weekend for quite sometime now. After hearing about the UAE government’s decision to grant private sector employees the same number of days off as the public sector, we’ve already started planning around some of these upcoming holidays, as should you:

April 3 – Ascension Day
In 2019, this day shall be falling on the 3rd of April (Wednesday). So technically, you can expect a day off on the 3rd, although we’re hoping it gets pushed to the 4th of April (Thursday), so we can enjoy a long weekend off.

June 4 or June 5 – Eid Al Fitr
Marking the end of a month of fasting, you can expect a three-day holiday starting on the 4th or 5th of June. This, however, will depend on the moon-sighting, so we’ll have to wait for a confirmation from the Ministry first.

August 10 – Arafat Day
This year, this day might fall on the 10th of August – which is a Saturday – so, you know what that means: LONG weekend! But this will again, be subject to moon-sighting, so let’s hope for the best.

August 11 – Eid Al Adha
A three-day holiday is expected for Eid Al Adha this year as well, beginning on the 11th of August (Sunday) together with the holiday for Arafat Day on the 10th of August. Perfect time to plan a trip, maybe?

September 1 – Islamic New Year
There’s a possibility of having a long weekend towards the end of August/beginning of September, depending on the moon-sighting. The Islamic New Year is expected to fall on the 1st of September, so we might get a day off on the 31st of August (Saturday).

November 9 – Milad Al Nabi
A long weekend is expected to mark Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) birthday on the 9th of November, which falls on a Saturday. However, this is subject to moon-sighting. So, let’s wait and watch.

November 30 – Martyr’s Day
Also known as Commemoration Day, a public holiday has been declared on the 30th of November (Saturday), making it a long weekend for the UAE.

December 2 – UAE National Day
Falling on the 2nd of December, there is a possibility that the two-day holiday for UAE National Day might get clubbed together with the holiday for Martyr’s Day – that’s another long weekend to look forward to this year!
