What The New Normal Is Really Like In Dubai

What The New Normal Is Really Like In Dubai

The bad news is: 2020 is not over yet. But thanks to the ‘new normal’, we don’t need to stop living our best lives just about yet. If you’re still not familiar with the new normal, these guidelines should help you make your way around safely in Dubai during the pandemic.

1. Limited capacity

You’ll be seeing these two words quite a lot. Most of the venues in Dubai are operating at limited capacity, which means that only a certain number of people are allowed inside at a time. So, in case, you’re going out with a big group, make sure you’ve called the venue ahead of your visit. This rule also applies to ride-hailing apps such as Uber and Careem.

2. Advance reservations

Limited capacity means every slot at a brunch or event could get filled up quickly. Plan in advance and make sure you’re booking tables or making reservations way ahead of your visit. A few venues in Dubai are only accepting advance reservations, so to avoid any last-minute disappointments, make sure you’ve done your bookings beforehand.

3. Social distancing

Maintaining a physical distance of at least 6 feet (or 2 arms’ length) at any venue is necessary. This will not only help protect you but is also one of the key measures enforced to curb the spread of the coronavirus in the country. What’s more, most venues in Dubai have placed safe distancing stickers that should make it easier for you to stick to this rule.

4. Sanitizers

A hand sanitizer should be your best friend in 2020. While most places in the city are thoroughly sanitized and disinfected at regular intervals, you should find plenty of hand sanitizer dispensers dotted across venues too. So you wouldn’t need to worry about having to wash your hands every five minutes.

5. Face masks

You’ll need to be wearing a face mask to enter pretty much any venue in Dubai these days. Failure to wear one outside can even get you fined AED 3,000. When worn correctly and combined with other preventive measures, face masks can be your best defense against the pandemic. So, don’t forget yours before stepping out of the house.
