Bonobo Migrates To Dubai

Bonobo Migrates To Dubai
Some people in Dubai may have never heard of Bonobo, but to some Simon Green Aka Bonobo is one of the most exciting electronic artists of our time. What is even more exciting is that Groove on the Grass have managed to pull off one of years’ best bookings by being included in Bonobo’s “Migration” album tour.

Green has been making hairs stand on end with his spine-tingling music for some years and with albums such as “Black Sands”, his previous album “The North Borders” and his current album “Migration” in his back catalogue, there is little to argue about when it comes to quality of his creative output. That is all fair and well when it comes to discussing music composed, recorded and mixed in the comfort of his plush LA studio, but a live touring band is a completely different beast.

Bonobo is known for his otherworldly live performances as much as his studio releases, but when it comes to taking that album out on the road things tend to get a little complicated. Speaking to Billboard in December of last year Green had this to say on the band setup, “The core of the band is a 6 piece. But for the bigger shows in London or New York, we could have a 15-piece string section, woodwinds, horns, it just depends on where we are.”

When Bonobo rolls in to town on Friday, February 23rd he will be bringing with him an extended 8-piece live band and if you have listened to any of Bonobo’s work you will have some semblance of understanding just how complex that is when undertaking a world tour (The North Border tour lasted 16 months). To our knowledge this is the first time that any 8-piece band has been brought to Dubai, let alone for an electronic music performance, so hats off to the booking prowess and vision of the team behind Groove on the Grass for going that extra mile to offer Dubai world class music. This sort of performance also speaks volumes for Groove and the Grass, what this means for the region and this will surely go a long way to putting Dubai on the map as far as taking its place on the world touring circuit. For that Groove on the Grass we salute you.

Joining Bonobo across the 2 stages will be British duo Simian Mobile Disco, George Fitzgerald, Barnt as well as local artists Deian, Ricardo De Meneses, Tristan Girault, DatDatDat, Megadon Betamax, Maat, Sash. and Tarik Omar.
