GALLIARD BRASSERIE: A TURKISH DELIGHT RIGHT IN THE HEART OF DOWNTOWN DUBAI

GALLIARD BRASSERIE: A TURKISH DELIGHT RIGHT IN THE HEART OF DOWNTOWN DUBAI
Living in Dubai can get you easily accustomed to the ‘little luxuries’ of life–scintillating views, bustling neighborhoods and an astounding multicultural food scene that shows no signs of slowing down.

So, upon hearing of a renowned Turkish brand having successfully opened its first outpost in Dubai, we set out to discover what makes The Galliard at Address Downtown such a joyful addition to the city’s insatiable palate.

What made this particular visit even more memorable was the fact that the restaurant had recently welcomed a new head chef: Monserrato Marini from Italy.

After being greeted by our personable young host, Volkan, we settled ourselves at a corner table with the iconic Burj Khalifa towering over us–a generous portion of it too.

It’s difficult not to be impressed by the venue’s opulent interiors that look like they’ve been dreamt up by a modern-day Renaissance artist–right from the contemporary paintings lining the hallway walls to the pendant lights adding to the ambient mood.

As Volkan began to describe our menu for the night, it became immediately clear that food was not a subject that was taken lightly here. The Galliard serves an interesting fusion of Turkish delicacies with sprinklings of inspiration from Italian, French and Spanish cuisines.

We proceeded to fork our way through the starters: Aubergine Burrata served alongside a plate of Mozarella Carotta–would highly recommend both to first-timers at the restaurant.

Next came the Tagliolini Truffle prepared inside a Parmesan Cheese wheel–which should be the only way to have pasta, in our opinion–it was as creamy and delicious as it looked and hit all the right spots. Absolute bliss!

As meat lovers, we couldn’t help but be thrilled by the next item on the menu–Lamb Chops. Juicy, tender and cooked to perfection–just how we like it. We finished off the night with a generous dollop of pistachio ice cream served with extra-virgin olive oil, effectively changing the way we'll look at ice cream for the rest of our lives.

All in all, The Galliard offers a unique dining experience that delights all senses. Live entertainment comes in the form of a violinist serenading diners with her own take on commercial tunes.

Now that the weather is becoming cooler, the outdoor seating area should provide the perfect refuge for hubbly-bubbly lovers in the city–which is where we'll be heading pretty soon.
