KIKID TO THE KERB

KIKID TO THE KERB

As is always the case, misguided souls looking to be unique and original invariably do the exact opposite and latch on to an ill thought out craze that has less than ideal consequences. You can be sure that this will happen every few months until it dies down and the next hair brained scheme is given more air time than it should.

Step forward the Kiki dance challenge, born from Drake’s new track “In My Feelings”, there have been a number of light hearted dance videos that have hit the internet from people such as Will Smith, Ciara the Queen and social media comedian Shiggy, but that is where the fun ends. As a result of the song’s lyrical content a number of videos featuring people jumping out of a moving vehicle in order to dance alongside their car to the main part of the track have gone viral.

This has resulted in a number of accidents and the authorities in UAE have responded by issuing a statement that any persons caught taking part in the dangerous “Kiki dance challenge” will be subject to the enforcing of Federal Traffic Law. Dangerous driving involves a Dh2,000 and 23 black points as well as impounding of the vehicle for 60 days for driving a vehicle in a way that endanger the lives of other road users. As fun as this new “craze” might seem, there is no place on the UAE’s roads for dangerous driving. Drive safe kids.
