ARTIST PROFILE: MARTIN BUTTRICH

ARTIST PROFILE: MARTIN BUTTRICH

Artists like Martin Buttrich don’t come along very often, but when they do they don’t tend to draw attention to themselves. For a long time Buttrich worked tirelessly behind the scenes in his studio crafting sublime cuts of electronic music so pin point accurate that he was soon working with music’s greatest stars. Going back to the mid 90’s a long standing and hugely successful studio partnership began between Martin and his co-worker Timo Maas, what resulted was an indelible mark being made on the face of electronic music as Timo’s work such as his remixes of the likes of Depeche Mode, Muse and of course his famous remix of Azzido Da Bass “Dooms Night” in 1999.

Then in 2002 another genre defining began. His work with Loco Dice was THE sound of the infamous DC-10 party – Circoloco. With the old school meets new school minimal house and techno vibe taking over Ibiza and later the world, Buttrich and Dice were a production force to be reckoned with. Together they produced some of the genres stone wall classics such as Orchidee, Seeing Through Shadows and Flight LB7475 to name but only a few of the bombs to have been touched by Martin.

Since those early days, Buttrich has since stepped out from behind his shrouded studio and positioned himself as a major player in the house and techno circuit. His live sets bristle with all the creativity and precision of his studio work but with an added flair that is seldom found. His tracks have easily found their way on to labels such as Poker Flat, Cocoon, Planet E and of course his label he co-runs with Loco Dice – Desolat. Bearing witness to a live set from Martin Buttrich is something that every die-hard music lover owes to themselves once and that chance is this Thursday (April 12th) when überhaus rolls in to town for another showdown with Blue Marlin Ibiza UAE.
