Ah, summer – if you ignore the heat, there’s actually plenty to love about it!
You can wear your favorite crop top, head to the beach or…get on the first flight to a party destination anywhere in the world.
For those planning to do just that, we thought it’d be cool to venture out and discover the hottest music festivals taking place across the globe. So, here’s what we’ve found.
Lollapalooza
Get ready for 4 days of absolute madness at one of Chicago’s biggest annual music fests from August 1-4! Lollapalooza is where you can enjoy the best in alternative rock, hip-hop, punk rock, heavy metal or electronic music on the open grounds of the beautiful Grant Park. With artists such as Childish Gambino, The Chainsmokers and Ariana Grande headlining the fest this year, this will be a gig to remember that’s fo’ sho’!
Bonnaroo
Bonnaroo Music Festival started out in 2002 largely focusing on jam bands and folk rock along with community art projects. While it’s come a long way since then, the fest stays true to its roots. This year, you can expect some big names from the music biz including Post Malone, Cardi B and Childish Gambino to perform at the Great Stage Park in Manchester, Tennessee from June 13-16. Tickets for Tier 6 are still available, so get clicking!
Glastonbury
As the largest greenfield festival in the world, Glastonbury has become a major event in British culture. Artists such as Miley Cyrus, George Ezra and The Cure will be performing to more than 175,000 attendees on Worthy Farm from June 26-30. But tickets for this year’s edition are sadly all sold out. Fret not, the festival takes place every year (with some fallow years in between), so you can always start planning your trip around next year’s show.
Woodstock 50
This is one music fest that goes way back – we mean, wayyy back into the ‘60s. Considered to be a defining moment in music history, the first ever Woodstock was a celebration of peace and music during a particularly tense period in the world. This year’s show (from August 16-18) promises to be no different – shedding light on important social issues including gun violence and climate change. Psst..there’s also a kickass lineup that you can’t miss!
Outside Lands
If you happen to be in San Francisco this summer, you simply must make your way over to Golden Gate Park from August 9-11. Outside Lands is as popular with the locals as it is with tourists – and for good reason. With everything from a killer lineup of artists to awe-inspiring art installations, expect to fall in love with both the city and the music fest at the end of your stay.
Firefly
It doesn’t get much better than an open-air festival right in the middle of The Woodlands of Dover International Speedway. With artists such as Kygo, Travis Scott and Panic! At The Disco taking to the stage this year from June 21-23, you can choose to camp or glamp your way to an awesome experience under the beautiful blue sky. There’s also a Firefly Bazaar where you can expect to find some exciting goodies!
Mo Pop
Put your hands up for Detroit, and for Mo Pop Festival! Featuring some of the most talented artists from genres such as indie-rock, pop and hip-hop, this year’s show promises to be even bigger with an amazing lineup. Taking place from July 27-28 in West RiverFront Park, tickets are available for sale and can be easily purchased from the website. Grab them while you still can!
Essence Festival
If it’s good enough for Snoop Dogg, it’s good enough for us! This year marks the 25th anniversary of the fest, and you can only expect an even bigger lineup of artists such as Mary J. Blige, Brandy, Pharrell and Missy Elliot. It’s all happening at the Mercedes Benz Superdome in New Orleans from July 5-7. There’ll be plenty of other events organized as well, focusing on black fashion, beauty and business. Worth a visit!
