Taste of Dubai

Taste of Dubai
Located at Dubai’s Media City Amphitheatre, Taste of Dubai is one of the most eagerly awaited highlights of the festival calendar and it kicks off today. Running from Thursday, March 8th to Saturday March 10th there will be 3 days of cooking food, drink, music and a whole range of activities here is just some of the highlights from across the weekends activities….

CELEBRITY CHEFS
There will be a massive cast of celebrity chefs across the 3-day celebration of food and drink and one of the most celebrated Italian chefs that will be in Dubai this weekend Giorgio Locatelli. Having been brought up in a family that ran a Michel starred restaurant Giorgio was almost destined to be a Michelin starred chef himself. Having been named GQ’s Food & Drink Man of the Year in 2016 and then awarded the Commendatore OMRI by Italian Ambassador Terracciano for services to Italian gastronomy (the equivalent of a British knighthood). Giorgio will be appearing at Crate & Barrel Chefs’ Theatre at 830pm on Friday and 730pm on Saturday for a live demonstration of his culinary skills.

DUBAI RESTAURANTS
Over the course of the weekend 23 of the hottest eateries will be represented in full and will be presenting signature dishes from their menu. One such restaurant is Waka (Oberoi Hotel, Business Bay), offering a tantalising combination of vibrant Latin artwork with lip smacking Peruvian food and an energetic atmosphere that offers a setting from which to enjoy an intimate and fun night out. On offer from their taster menu is Wakamole (Nachos, smoked avocado, onion, chili, lime), Lima Maki (Prawns Furai, Avocado, Leche de Tigre Mayo), Carretillero Ceviche (Seabass, rocoto chili, choclo, cancha, sweet potato) and Spare Ribs (Spicy cantonese marinade, kimchi).

ENTERTAINMENT
As well as the vast array of food and drink on offer over the course of the weekends festivities there will also be an impressive musical line-up and they don’t come any more impressive or legendary than Sister Sledge and Kathy Sledge who will be headlining the main stage on Thursday, March 8th. It is no coincidence that she will be performing live on International Women’s days and with her penning tracks like “Lost In Music”, “We Are Family” and “Thinking of You” it is a certainty that she will have the whole of Media City singing along with her. As well as Kathy and her sisters there will be live performances across the weekend from Flamenco Art & Entertainment, a Spanish Flamenco company based in the UAE, Salha and her Million Dollar Band, Italian band Mark Zitti ei Fratelli Coltelli, 4THEMUSIC as well as resident DJ Darryl Rees.

THINGS TO DO
Taste of Dubai is also a family friendly event and so there is plenty to keep the little ones amused, a splash play area, to junior cooking classes and bungee swings. There is so much going on at Taste of Dubai over the course of the festival it’s a pity the weekend is just limited to just 3 days as 5 would be better to get around everything on offer.
