Where are you with your 2018 resolutions?

Where are you with your 2018 resolutions?
After the excessive food consumption and drinks over the festive season, it’s great to think about self-improvement when making your NY resolutions. Maybe its cutting alcoholic drinks or eating more vegetables and hitting the gym, but Dubainight.com has decided to help you come up with some other great resolutions.

1. Switch off your phone and connect with people. Rather than concentrating on Candy Crush or taking Selfies, put the phone down and fully experience your surroundings.

2. Learn a party trick to impress your guests at a dinner party. Whether it is learning a simple magic trick, or how to beat your friends at Blackjack, or even learning how to say hello in 10 different languages, find something that interests you and wow your friends and family with your new skills.

3. Try cooking new recipes from scratch. Home cooked food is healthier than ready made meals, and will really impress your partner and friends. Try out cuisine from different countries, and of course living in the UAE you will be able to access fantastic local ingredients to make a Middle Eastern feast.

4. Want to get fit; well living in Dubai or Abu Dhabi you have no need to hit the gym as you have miles of beach to use. Try out jogging or swimming, or even walking to the shop instead of always jumping in your car. There are also cycle paths around Dubai so why not use them, cycling is a fun, low stress way to get fit.

5. Get some culture into your life by visiting your local theatre. Dubai and Abu Dhabi have a selection of theatres and of course the opera. So whether you like a classic ballet such as Swan Lake or prefer something a bit more cutting edge, book a ticket for the theatre.

6. Make time to read more books. Be it the classics such as Tolkien or Dickens or something by an Arab author such as Nirhad Sirhees or Hassan Blassim, books are a wonderful way to while away a few hours and be transported to another world.

7. Nurture your garden or balcony. Whether you have a palatial garden or just a window box or some potted herbs, why not attempt to grow your own food this year. Salad leaves and herbs are easy to grow in a small space, and if you have more room then you can grow whatever takes your fancy.

8. If having a thriving social life is more your thing, why not check out some of Dubai’s new nightclubs. The UAE is lucky to have some of the world’s most exciting nightclubs and bars, so grab some friends, get dressed up and try somewhere new. Many clubs have happy hours and special ladies nights, so even if cash is a little tight this month, there is no excuse not to get out, and remember dancing is fabulous exercise!
