7 VENUES THAT HAVE CLOSED DOWN IN DUBAI

7 VENUES THAT HAVE CLOSED DOWN IN DUBAI
It’s never easy having to say goodbye to a venue you’ve grown attached to – whether it’s a restaurant or a club. But sadly, all good things must come to an end eventually. Now, we can only look back and smile at some of our favorite memories at the following venues:

Aji

Peruvian restaurant Aji at Club Vista Mare has confirmed that it will be shutting its doors at the end of this month. Having been a firm favorite amongst foodies in the city for the past two and a half years, it breaks our heart having to bid farewell to this lovely beachfront venue. But, on the bright side, they have promised a series of ‘exciting closing offers’ until the actual closure of the restaurant takes place (until May 31). So, make sure you don’t miss your last chance to dine at the trendy eatery.

Beefbar

After having been in operation for only 15 months, Beefbar Dubai announced the closure of its DIFC branch last month. The brand will be relocating to an undisclosed venue sometime next year. The restaurant has also announced that it will soon be launching Leafbar, the first of its kind internationally, aimed at vegetarians and vegans in the city. Sounds exciting although we can’t help but feel a little saddened by Beefbar’s departure from Dubai’s culinary scene.

Galvin Bistrot

One of our favorite French restaurants in the city, Galvin Dubai had shut its doors earlier in March this year. The brainchild of brothers Chris and Jeff Galvin, the City Walk hotspot was known for celebrating the best of bistrot cuisine with a menu that featured signature favorites such as Galvin Bouillabaisse and Beef Bourguignon. We were regulars at ‘The Great British Roast’ which took place at the restaurant every Saturday. But alas, it simply wasn't meant to be.

Girders Garden

It was definitely tough having to bid farewell to Girders Garden at the JA Ocean View Hotel. Not only was it an amazing place for sports fans, but they served some of the best pub grub in the city – from the BBQ platter to the veggie burger – we simply couldn’t get enough of all the delicious food at the venue. Can’t believe we no longer will get to be a part of their Friday Garden Brunch. Sigh. But, but, there is a silver lining here – a new venue is set to replace the old favorite in June. We’re keeping our fingers crossed.

Ruth’s Chris Steak House

As meat lovers, we were surely sad to let this one go – Ruth’s Chris Steak House at The Address in Dubai Marina had closed for good back in March. One of the most popular restaurant chains in the world, the steakhouse has more than 100 branches worldwide. But don’t worry too much about where to get your steak fix now – The 86 Steak House has confirmed that it will be replacing the popular eatery pretty soon. So, all is not lost.

Gotha

Having opened in March 2018, this Cannes-import had become a weekend favorite with club-goers because of its expansive dance floor and weekly roster of major international artists. We can now confirm that the French super club has shut its doors for good. While not much is known about the venue replacing it, it’s safe to say that Gotha’s closure will leave a huge void in Dubai’s party scene.

Cirque Le Soir

After having shaken up Dubai’s party scene for eight long years, Cirque Le Soir closed its doors earlier in March this year. Much to the dismay of party-goers in the city, the award-winning nightclub in the Fairmont had confirmed that it will be bidding farewell to the city. But the club went out with a bang – a huge farewell party marked the last time we all danced with the Cirque crew. Although we're still figuring out which venue will be replacing it, it was heartbreaking having to say goodbye to one of our favorite clubs in Dubai.
