This Thursday, a bright new restaurant and bar opens its doors at Club Vista Mare on The Palm. Palm Bay is a fresh and funky concept offering informal social dining with a taste of the Caribbean and a vibrant sunshine vibe. Whether you choose to dress up or dress down, there’s a friendly welcome for one and from the smiling staff, with great service and sensational soul food.
Step inside and you’ll find colourful furniture, neon signs, instagramable murals from local artists on the walls and even a shipping container, with the space split into four distinct quarters echoing the great Caribbean capitals of Kingston, Havana, Bridge Town, Port of Spain and Santa Domingo. Outside on the terrace there are two cool gardens to sit back and relax in while you sip a cold one and savor the stunning shoreline views.
Fantastic soul food comes first at Palm Bay, and for those unfamiliar with Caribbean cooking, it’s a fantastic fusion of African, Cajun, Creole, European, Latin American, Indian and even Middle East influences. It's full of flavour, massively moreish and will make your tongue tingle nicely without being too spicy. It suits all tastes and is great for sharing too, adding to the atmosphere at any get together.
Head Chef Gregory brings a world of experience to Palm Bay. Born and raised in Saint Vincent, he went to ply his tasty trade in Barbados before taking his chef’s hat to the United States, England, Poland, South Africa and the UAE. Every country along the way has flavoured his cooking style, but to this day his grandmother’s home cooking in The Caribbean remains his greatest kitchen influence.
Of course, an extensive beverage menu compliments the food, with everything from fresh fruity cocktails with a Caribbean kick to no nonsense cold ones to quench your thirst. Weekly specials for all you foodies include unlimited wings on Thursdays for just AED 99, Friday Brunch with unlimited starters, sharing mains, a sweet selection of desserts and a choice of three beverage packages. Finishing the weekend with flavour, Palm Bay’s Island Roast serves four roasts, two meat, one fish and one vegetarian, washed down with two beverages for just AED 150.
Palm Bay's open music policy means your meal will be accompanied by a mix of those old classics with a modern vibe. DJs add to the atmosphere at weekends and ‘Havana Night’ (Ladies Night) on Tuesdays.
